2018 Savannah Earth Day Festival

April 21, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

This year marks the first year the festival is produced by the Savannah Chatham Sustainability Coalition (SCSC) with the support of the City of Savannah and other sponsors. The SCSC is a non profit that is committed to collaborate with our businesses and organizations to secure a sustainable future for all of the people in our community.

The theme for this year’s event is “Zero Waste” – this theme is in tandem with Earth Day Network (www.earthday.org) them – “End Plastic Pollution”. There will be exhibits throughout the festival in Forsyth Park that raise awareness of the amount of plastic that we use in our daily life.

In addition to these exhibits, there will be a large scale sculpture made of recycled plastic bottles created by an artist collective The Revival Society. These artists have been traveling to schools to engage the students in the bottle collection by creating Trash Monster Cans designed by students. http://www.therevivalsociety.org

The Savannah Tree Foundation will do their annual tree walk at 11am, beginning at the Candler Oak near the Law School on Drayton. It is the City’s largest environmental outreach event of the year, and one of the largest education event in conjunction with Earth Day in Georgia.
