While snow has not yet appeared over Skidaway Island as of Noon on Wednesday, plenty of ice and freezing rain has.
Vehicular accidents have occurred throughout Chatham County due to the slippery conditions and the abysmal inclement weather driving skills of Savanniahians. Most major streets have been closed by the Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA – www.chathamemergency.org).
The Skidaway Island Bridge is closed, so no traffic is entering or leaving the island. There have been reports of residents leaving their vehicles at Butterbean Beach and walking across the bridge onto Skidaway Island.
