The Skidaway Abigails is an organization of liberal, progressive women whose purpose is to provide an environment for comfortable social engagement and a forum for discussion of sociopolitical issues. We welcome women who support our values to join us, regardless of residence, race, ethnicity, age, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation.
We meet monthly September through May for programs and discussions on socio-political issues. We welcome women from throughout the Savannah area, not just The Landings where many of our members live, and are pleased that our membership includes a range of ages, education and background.
Speakers include such people as Mark Streeter, editorial cartoonist for the Savannah Morning News; Stacie Fox from Planned Parenthood; District Attorney Meg Heap; and Dr. Jose de Arimateia da Cruz, professor of International Relations/Comparative Politics at Armstrong State University.
If you’re interested in advocacy, WAGs (Women Advocating for Georgians) may appeal to you. About half of our members are involved in WAGs. We also have a movie club, a discussion group and two book clubs where current issues are discussed.
We meet on the second Thursday of the month at 3:45 pm at The Messiah Lutheran Church, 1 West Ridge St. on Skidaway Island. Guests are always welcome and I hope you’ll join us.
