What is Socialism? – Dr. Ken Zapp

March 16, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join the Skidaway Hamiltons and Abigails for a Zoom meeting on March 16th (3-4pm) when economist Dr. Ken Zapp, Professor Emeritus, Metropolitan State University, will speak on socialism.  At a time when the term “socialism” is used widely as a pejorative, Professor Zapp will look at what socialism means today by examining the continuum from capitalism to state socialism.  He will provide some historic perspective and help explain where the Biden Administration’s professed polices fall on the spectrum.

Professor Zapp has spoken to the Hamiltons twice previously, giving us a wonderful economics primer on the role of government in a market capitalist economy on December 18, 2018, and giving us another education on affordable housing on October 15, 2019.  Dr. Zapp is married to Cindy Kelly, Executive Director of the Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless.

This meeting is open to all Hamiltons members as well as members of the Skidaway Abigails. To register for this meeting, or for more information, including membership (current membership cost is $20), upcoming events, news, alerts, and extensive user-friendly online resources, visit the Skidaway Hamilton’ website (SkidawayHamiltons.org), or contact George Sedberry (george.sedberry@gmail.com or 912-308-5193).
