Prescription Eyelash Growth Serum

Prescription Eyelash Growth Serum

In today’s aesthetics world, the allure of longer, fuller lashes has led to the development of various products that promise to enhance lash growth. Among the myriad of solutions available in the market, prescription eyelash growth serum stands out as a trusted and effective choice. This specific product is not just another cosmetic solution; it’s an FDA-approved treatment that has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its efficacy.

Prescription eyelash growth serums primarily contain bimatoprost, a compound initially used for treatment of  glaucoma. It was discovered that one of the side effects of this medication was the growth of longer, darker, thicker lashes. Many drugs have been discovered in this way. What followed was clinical trials to test the theory that this ingredient had a positive effect on lashes. Instead of dropping the solution into the eye (as with Glaucoma treatment) it was simply applied to the upper lash line. On confirming the efficacy, this product was developed as a serum with bimatoprost as the active ingredient, dedicated solely to eyelash growth.

Now, when considering such a serum, it’s essential to recognize the distinction between over-the-counter lash serums and those that come via a prescription. The latter, which you’d find in reputable places like London Professional Aesthetic and other leading clinics. The formula works at the root, strengthening every lash and promoting a life cycle that results in longer, thicker, and darker lashes.

However, like any product that delivers such potent results, it’s essential to be aware of the side effects. Proper knowledge allows you to weigh the benefits against any potential risks, making an informed decision about whether this treatment is right for you.

The Process

LPA prescription eye growth serum really does work. It is a prescription-only item. This means you must have a thorough assessment by one of our skilled nurses, this can be face to face or virtually. You will receive the serum (delivered to your door) in the form of eye drops with a set of applicator brushes. Before bed every night, you will apply this to the upper lash OnabotulinumtoxinAAbobotulinumtoxinAIncobotulinumtoxinAPrabotulinumtoxinALetibotulinumtoxinARimabotulinumtoxinBHyaluronic Acid FillersCalcium Hydroxylapatite FillersPoly-L-lactic Acid FillersPolymethylmethacrylate FillersAutologous Fat GraftingForehead Lines TreatmentGlabellar Frown Lines TreatmentCrow’s Feet TreatmentBunny Lines TreatmentChemical Brow LiftLip FlipGummy Smile CorrectionMasseter ReductionJaw SlimmingDimpled Chin SmoothingCobblestone Chin SmoothingNefertiti Neck LiftMicro-BotoxMesotoxHyperhidrosis TreatmentChronic Migraine ReliefBruxism TreatmentTMJ TreatmentCervical Dystonia TreatmentNeck Spasm TreatmentBlepharospasm TreatmentLip AugmentationLip ContouringCheekbone EnhancementTear Trough FillersNasolabial Fold SofteningMarionette Line FillersLiquid RhinoplastyNon-Surgical Nose JobJawline ContouringJawline DefinitionChin AugmentationTemple VolumisingHand RejuvenationAcne Scar Subcision Filling only. It is not unusual with the first few applications to feel a sense of slight irritation in the eyes – typically this itchy sensation diminishes quite quickly.

It is essential that you apply this every night – consistency is key for this to be effective. Firstly ensure that your skin is scrupulously clean. Use the brush to apply the treatment (one drop is enough) – very similar to liquid eyeliner. You will find that after applying for around 6 weeks, your eyelashes grow longer, thicker and darker. At the point you are happy with your result, you can then drop the frequency of application down to 2 or 3 times/week. Remember – those first 6 weeks are imperative to get the result you are looking for.

Whilst using lash growth you may still wear makeup, false lashes and lash extensions. If you experience any problems or have any questions, you simply get in touch. In extremely unusual cases, we may ask you to discontinue use.

Should you decide to stop using at any time, you will find that your lashes slowly return to their previous state.

To summarise, this is applied once a day (usually at night time). After around 6 weeks of use you will see longer and thicker eyelashes, they will also appear darker, imporving your previous appearance to amazing lashes.

The Magic Behind Eyelash Enhancement

Eyelashes have a protective function, keeping dust and debris from our sensitive eyes. But let’s face it, a full and lengthy set of lashes also adds a touch of glamour to one’s appearance. It’s no wonder then that long  luscious lashes are such a sought-after look that shows no signs of going away.

The quest for the perfect set of lashes is nothing new. Over the years, various methods have been employed, from makeup to false lashes and lash extensions. However, the breakthrough came with the understanding of the lash growth cycle and the development of serums that could naturally enhance this process.

Each eyelash undergoes a life cycle that includes growth, rest, and shedding phases, like the hair itself. The magic behind prescription eyelash growth serums is their ability to extend the growth phase, resulting in longer, fuller lashes over time. By targeting the hair follicles, these serums encourage the lashes to grow thicker and longer than they naturally would.

Furthermore, products like bimatoprost, the active ingredient in many prescription eyelash serums, fortify the lashes. This added strength ensures they are less prone to breakage and can reach their full growth potential.

However, it’s essential to differentiate between cosmetic solutions and treatments that genuinely affect eyelash growth at a cellular level. The prescription eyelash serums, backed by research and FDA approval, are in a league of their own. When it comes to true eyelash enhancement, there’s a world of difference between merely creating the illusion of fuller lashes and genuinely promoting lash growth.

Factors Influencing Natural Eyelash Growth

Every individual’s lashes have their unique growth story. While prescription eyelash serums can work wonders, understanding the nuances of natural eyelash growth can offer better insight into how these serums play their part.

Genetics: Much like the hair on our heads, the length, colour, and thickness of our eyelashes are influenced by our genes. Some individuals naturally have longer and fuller lashes, while others might not be as blessed in this department.

Age: As we age, the growth cycle of our eyelashes can slow down, and the lashes themselves can become sparser. It’s a natural part of the aging process, and while it can be disheartening, solutions are available.

Nutrition and Diet: A balanced diet plays an essential role in hair and eyelash health. Deficiencies in certain nutrients, such as biotin or protein, can impede lash growth and even lead to lash loss.

Hormonal Changes: Fluctuations in hormones, especially during events like pregnancy or menopause, can influence eyelash growth. Some might experience lash growth, while others might face thinning.

Health Conditions: Certain conditions, like alopecia areata, can lead to lash loss. Similarly, treatments like chemotherapy can also affect lash growth.

Cosmetic Practices: Regular use of mascara, especially waterproof ones, or lash extensions or false lashes, can weaken natural lashes over time, making them prone to breakage. Additionally, not removing makeup properly can clog the hair follicles, impeding natural lash growth.

Understanding these factors can provide a clearer picture of why one might need assistance in the lash department. With the backdrop of these natural influencers, the introduction of prescription eyelash serums becomes a welcome solution for many.

The Science Behind Prescription Serums: Catalyzing Lash Potential

Prescription serums, especially those designed for eyelash growth, aren’t just cosmetic fixes; they’re backed by extensive research and science. Let’s delve into how these serums make the magic happen.

Active Ingredients: Bimatoprost, an FDA-approved ingredient found in several eyelash growth serums, originally served as a treatment for glaucoma. But doctors soon realized that it had a side effect – it made eyelashes grow!

Mechanism of Action: These serums increase the anagen (growth) phase of the eyelashes. Typically, lashes go through a growth cycle: anagen (growth), catagen (transition), and telogen (resting). Prescription serums extend the anagen phase, giving lashes more time to grow, thus making them appear longer, thicker, and darker.

Application Process: Unlike regular products, prescription serums need to be applied meticulously. They often come with a special brush, ensuring that the serum is applied directly to the base of the upper eyelashes. Consistency is key – missing out on applications can slow down or reverse the progress.

Results Timeline: Generally, initial results become noticeable after about four weeks, with full results showing around 16 weeks. It’s a journey to longer lashes, and patience plays a big part in it.

FDA Approval: The FDA approval stamp means that the product has undergone rigorous testing in the USA and is deemed safe for public use. But remember, FDA approved doesn’t always mean side effect-free. It’s always recommended to discuss potential side effects with your doctor.

With a blend of science and aesthetic benefits, prescription serums present a compelling case for those seeking a dramatic transformation for their lashes without the need for extensions or falsies.

Harnessing Advanced Formulations: The Power of Lash Serums

The world of aesthetics constantly evolves, bringing forth advanced formulations that cater to a myriad of needs. Likewise, new uses are being discovered all the time for drugs whose traditional uses are for something completely diffferent. When it comes to eyelashes, specialised serums have emerged as the frontrunners in promoting natural growth and vitality.

Superior Ingredients: At the heart of every effective lash serum is a blend of powerful ingredients. Bimatoprost, a star ingredient in many FDA-approved lash serums, stands out not just for its efficacy but for its intriguing origin as a medication for which it is still used. You may alos hear the terms Latisse and Lumigan – these all refer to the same product.

Beyond Cosmetic Appeal: A good lash serum doesn’t just make lashes look longer; it strengthens them, prevents breakage, and nourishes the roots, ensuring overall lash health.

Ease of Application: Modern lash serums come with applicators to ensure precision. This meticulous application method ensures that every lash gets an equal dose of the nourishing formula, leading to uniform growth and consistency in results.

Safety First: While the aim is beautification, safety is paramount. Our lash serum has undergone rigorous testing to ensure it’s safe for the eyes—a sensitive and vital part of our body.

Versatility: Many users of lash serums have found them beneficial not only for their lashes but also for enhancing the volume and health of their eyebrows. It’s a testament to the versatility and efficacy of these advanced formulations.

In our aesthetics clinic, we believe in providing only the best. And when it comes to eyelashes, harnessing the power of advanced serum formulations is our go-to approach for natural, long-lasting results.

Navigating Potential Side Effects: Ensuring Safety and Comfort

While the beauty industry has made great strides in introducing innovative products like lash serums, it’s crucial for consumers to be well-informed about potential side effects. As with any beauty or medicinal product, understanding and navigating these potential issues ensures a safe and comfortable experience.

A Commitment to Safety: The allure of longer, fuller lashes has understandably captivated many, but it’s important to prioritise eye health above all. Products that have received FDA approval, such as those containing bimatoprost, have undergone stringent testing to assess their safety profile. However, even FDA-approved products can have side effects.

Common Side Effects: Some users of lash serums report mild side effects, such as itching or redness in the eyes. While these side effects often resolve on their own, it’s crucial to be aware of them. If these symptoms persist or are bothersome, simply get in touch and let us know.

Rare Complications: In very rare cases, side effects like darkened eyelids or darkening of the iris may occur. While the chances are low, it’s essential to be informed and to monitor any changes closely. If you notice any unusual changes in your eyes or the skin around them, it’s paramount to seek medical advice. This side effect has only been associated with the use of this medication to treat an eye condition as an eye drop.

Applying with Care: Ensuring the correct application can mitigate many side effects. Following the recommended dosage and being careful not to let the liquid come in direct contact with the eyeball can prevent potential irritation.

At London Professional Aesthetics our Clinical Director, Elizabeth Rimmer, emphasizes the importance of education around these treatments. We are committed to offering products and treatments that are both effective and safe, guiding our patients every step of the way.

The Science of Lashes: Understanding Their Natural Life Cycle

Lashes, those delicate hairs that frame our eyes, play a vital role not just in beauty but in overall eye health. As we delve into the science of lashes, it’s important to understand their natural life cycle, how they grow, and how various products, including solutions, can affect them.

Growth Phases of Lashes: Much like the hair on our scalp, lashes have a life cycle that consists of three phases:

Factors Affecting Lash Growth: Various factors can influence the growth of lashes. This includes genetics, age, hormones, and nutritional habits. While some people naturally have longer and fuller lashes, others might struggle with thin or sparse ones.

How Serums Play a Role: Eyelash growth solutions, especially those containing bimatoprost, work by extending the anagen phase of the lash life cycle. This means lashes can grow longer than they usually would before transitioning to the next phase.

The Importance of Proper Care: Just like how we care for the hair on our head, our lashes require attention too. Regularly cleaning makeup, avoiding rough handling, and using quality mascara can ensure that lashes remain healthy and strong.

Natural vs. Enhanced: While there’s undeniable appeal in enhancing one’s lashes, it’s also essential to appreciate and care for our natural lashes. Understanding their life cycle provides a foundation for achieving the best results, whether you’re aiming for a natural look or a dramatic flair.

Latisse: The Pinnacle of Lash Enhancement Solutions

When it comes to the field of prescription eyelash growth products, Latisse stands out prominently. It isn’t just a brand; it represents a revolution in lash enhancement, being the first FDA-approved treatment specifically for hypotrichosis (insufficient eyelashes).

What Sets Latisse Apart? Latisse’s primary active ingredient is bimatoprost, which has proven effective in not just growing lashes, but making them longer, darker, and fuller. But what truly sets it apart is its FDA-approved status, which speaks volumes about its safety and efficacy.

The Journey of Latisse: Latisse, with its root in eye care treatments, came into the limelight when doctors noticed the remarkable side effect of lash growth in glaucoma patients. The transition from an eye medication to a groundbreaking hair growth solution is nothing short of incredible.

Application and Results: Latisse is more than just a serum; it’s a regimen. Applied nightly to the base of the upper eyelashes using sterile applicators, users often start seeing noticeable improvements in lash length and fullness within just a few weeks, with full results typically manifesting by the 16th week.

Safety Profile: While Latisse has been celebrated for its remarkable results, like all treatments, it’s essential to be aware of potential side effects. These may include eye itching, redness, or darkened eyelids. Always consult with a professional before starting a regimen, especially if you have pre-existing eye conditions.

A Legacy in Lash Treatment: Latisse isn’t just another name in the beauty industry. Its brand name has become synonymous with dramatic eyelash growth, setting a standard that many other treatments aspire to reach.

For those seeking the pinnacle of eyelash enhancement solutions, Latisse, with its proven track record, holds a special place in the realm of aesthetic treatments. It is a testament to how medical advancements can beautifully intertwine with the world of beauty, offering solutions that were once beyond imagination.
