Public Works...Working for You!

On Tuesday, January 13 Sean Burgess and Rob Burch had the opportunity to tour the community with Shannon Matzke and Sydney Williams, PhD, from Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to visit potential collaboration sites for projects within The Landings. During our discussions, we explored several exciting opportunities, including the possibility of implementing Thin Layer Sediment Placement in the marsh to coincide with our annual dredging program at Landings Harbor. We also discussed the idea of establishing demonstration gardens for living shorelines along the marsh edge. These initiatives could significantly contribute to the sustainability and resilience of our local environment. As we move forward, staff and members of the Strategic Water Committee will continue to evaluate these options and explore funding possibilities throughout the year. We believe this could be a fantastic partnership opportunity that will benefit our community and the environment.

Delegal Marina Sunset Pavilion Sign Light Repair

Upon inspection of the outdoor light fixture outside of the Delegal Creek Marina Sunset Room, staff determined that the light was not operational. In-house staff removed the inoperable fixture, installed a new post, ran new electrical wiring, and installed a new light fixture. The new fixture now provides illumination to the patio area adjacent to the flagpole.

Deer Creek Village Gate Improvements

In-house staff installed a conduit beneath the walkway adjacent to the resident lane at the Deer Creek Village Gate to support Pathway Technology’s installation of an optical vehicle detection module integrated with the RFID access control reader as a redundant identification and triggering mechanism. In addition, in-house staff installed new electrical wiring and a dedicated receptacle within a newly installed utility enclosure at the Deer Creek Village Gate. This infrastructure was installed in preparation for Pathway Technology’s installation of a power conditioning filter designed to regulate and stabilize incoming electrical power to the gate access control system.

Pathway Technology has informed staff that a comprehensive proposal for the 2026 gate replacement projects will be provided by the end of the week. The proposal will outline the recommended equipment specifications, and associated costs required to complete the system replacement and ensure reliable operation of the gate access control system.
