Volunteer Income Tax Program Needs Volunteers

What:  Volunteer with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) – free income tax preparation

Where:  Several sites located in Savannah, Pembroke, Richmond Hill, and Hinesville.

When: Tax preparation starts in January. Flexible volunteer hours and locations available.

Why:  This program provides free tax preparation for low to moderate income families, elderly, persons with disabilities, limited English speaking taxpayers, and those living in rural counties. VITA saves underserved individuals/families millions in tax preparation fees and helps tax payers claim millions in refunds, which can be used to reduce poverty.  

How:  Will be trained to become IRS Certified.  

Other: No Experience Necessary. Training will be provided.  Two Training Sessions – one in December and one in January.  Volunteers are needed to prepare taxes or help with intake/front desk.
