Chances are you've heard a few unsettling booms over the last few weeks and wondered what is happening, and if you should take cover. There is no need for alarm, these sounds are from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team on Fort Stewart conducting routine gunnery. Cold weather causes the sound to travel, which means the noise has been heard further than normal recently.

Just how long the training will take at Fort Stewart is yet to be determined. However, it is likely the booms may be heard off and on over the next few months as the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team prepares to mobilize for training.
