Karen Dove Barr, author of the new novel, Burnt Pot Island, will be signing her book at The Village Library on Saturday, January 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This historical fiction, published on November 3, 2021, takes place in Pinpoint and Skidaway Island, as well as Burnt Pot Island, Georgia. In the words of a fellow author, “Burnt Pot Island imagines the story of a family who could have lived here 100 years ago when the island was populated by moonshiners and the Mayor of Savannah brought in Detroit gangs to import fine illegal liquor across deserted Skidaway.” Author Brienne Walsh said, “Karen Dove Barr deftly weaves descriptions of this wild and glorious place with a page-turning narrative that at its heart is about a mother and daughter dreaming about escaping their lot in life.”

On the same day of the signing, The Village Library will hold a Bag of Books Sale. These sales take place on the last Saturday of most months. From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., patrons can choose from the books that are always for sale on the back wall of the Library and fill a bag with those books for just $10.
