Landings Landlovers, established in 1974, is a volunteer-run philanthropic organization open to all Skidaway Island residents. Dedicated to enriching the Landings community and Skidaway Island at large, Landlovers sponsors numerous social activities and fundraising events to raise money to support multiple nonprofit service organizations. We thank the former officers and directors who worked so hard and creatively to plan fundraising events. Despite COVID-19, the Landlovers Foundation provided scholarships, grants, donations, and awards to multiple entities and individuals in the past year. The organizations below all received grants:
  • Bright Eye-deas Low Vision Group
  • Chatham County Family Justice Center
  • Coastal Conservation Association of Georgia, Skidaway Island Chapter
  • Landings Military Family Relief Fund
  • Safe Shelter Center for Domestic Violence Services
  • Skidaway Farms
  • Chatham Emergency Services, Skidaway Island Division
  • Skidaway Island Troop 57, Boy Scouts of America
  • St Joseph’s/Candler Foundations
  • Sustainable Skidaway Project/Skidaway Audubon
  • The Landings Association
  • Toys for Tots
Landlovers Ongoing Activities We’re still having fun this summer! We have some new groups and invite everyone to check out these new groups and our current groups on the Landlovers website (www.landingslandlovers.com/activities/). Have a look to see what you’d like to do! Bunco is in full swing every second Wednesday in TLA’s Conference Room (600 Landings Way South). Bring $6 in singles to be used as prizes and to cover the room fee. Come at 6 p.m. to socialize, while the room is being set up. Drinks in covered containers are allowed. For more information, email Susan Burns (spburns@hotmail.com) or Jane Van Epps (janevanepps@yahoo.com). Landlovers membership is required, but you do not have to be a Landings Club member since we don’t meet in a Landings Club facility. Women and men are now playing Mexican Train Dominoes every Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Byrd Room at the Palmetto Clubhouse. Bring your set of dominoes, if you have one. For more information, email  Laurie Milano (lamilano@aol.com). Landlovers and Landings Club memberships are required. Some new groups starting in September include Ladies 9-Holers and Dance Exercise Class/Performance Dance Group. Watch for more information as it becomes available! We also are looking for some great people to lead a couple of groups. We need people for the Canasta Group (Club membership required because play is at Palmetto Clubhouse), Travel Group, Walking Group, and Biking Group. If you are interested in volunteering for these groups or have ideas about new groups, please email LandLoversActivities2021@gmail.com. Our New Year Landlovers and its new Officers and Board Members are excited to begin a new year of fun and fundraising. We are happy to announce that our opening reception will be held in-person at the Palmetto Ballroom on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a member/cash bar and appetizers. This exciting event will showcase our various events and activities and introduce other nonprofit and service organizations that support our community. We hope you will watch for more information in the coming weeks and plan to join us. Landlovers Board 2021-2022
