Fun Fact Friday

Did you know that Freedom, Georgia Southern University’s (GSU) bald eagle mascot is one of only two American Bald Eagles in the country that flies during college football games and commencement ceremonies? The tradition at GSU began with Glory, a 23-year old bald eagle, who first appeared at a football game in 1998. Glory now enjoys her status as the revered matriarch and welcomes visitors at GSU’s Center for Wildlife Education. To learn more about Freedom and his friends, join Skidaway Audubon on Saturday, February 22, on The Landings Association’s Athletic Field (600 Landings Way South) at 1 p.m. to explore the wonderful world of raptors as GSU’s Wildlife Education Center brings its fine feathered friends to The Landings.
