Vehicle Accidents

On Wednesday, July 31, Landings Security, Chatham County Fire Department (CCFD), Skidaway Island First Responders (SIFR), and Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) responded to a vehicle versus golf cart accident on Landings Way South at Westcross Road. The driver of the golf cart reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign on the community path coming off of Westcross Road, and the driver of the vehicle did not have enough time to stop. The driver of the golf cart was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is investigating the accident.

Security, CCFD, and CCPD responded to a single-vehicle accident on Landings Way South at Tamarind Lane on Tuesday, July 30. A witness stated that the vehicle hit the curb, jumped the median, and struck a tree where it stopped. The driver of the vehicle stated that he was unsure what caused him to go off the roadway. He was treated on scene and taken home by a Security Officer at the driver’s request as his vehicle had to be towed from the scene. CCPD cited the driver for failure to maintain lane.

On Tuesday, July 30, Security and CCPD responded to The Village BP for a report of a two-vehicle accident without injuries, which occurred at the intersection of Diamond Causeway and Lake Street. The driver of the first vehicle was making a left turn onto Lake Street while the driver of the second vehicle was driving straight on Diamond Causeway towards the bridge. The CCPD Officer conducted his investigation and found the driver of the first vehicle at fault for the accident. The driver was cited for not yielding the right-of-way as well as having an expired tag, not having a driver’s license, and not having insurance. The first vehicle was towed from the scene.

Traffic Safety

The Guardian Pro camera/LIDAR system remained on Landings Way South near Black Hawk Trail North. From July 24 to July 30, the system recorded 116 violations, with the highest recorded speed being 67 MPH. To date, 313 fines have been issued to residents, 41 fines to vendors, and 13 fines to employees.

TLA Rules and Regulations Enforcement

• Warnings were issued to residents for early placement of bulk trash.
• Warnings were issued to vendors for no logos on RFID-equipped vehicles and no safety cones.
• A $50 citation was issued to a vendor for an unauthorized sign.
