Budget Box: Storm Drain Project
The Landings Association has approximately 89 miles of storm drains. The total expenses incurred for storm drain repairs in 2022 and 2023 equaled $1.4M. This equates to $166 of your annual Assessment contributed to the repair and replacement of the entire storm drain system.
In 2019, the Public Works Department, along with Southeast Pipe Survey, began to conduct systematic camera inspections of the Association’s storm drain system. This work began in Marshwood, the oldest phase of the community. These inspections showed many of the storm drain failures are due to several reasons, including the type of material the pipe is constructed of, root intrusions, pipe separation, and old age. Over the past five years, the Association, along with Southeast Pipe Survey, have used a Cured in Place Piping (CIPP) lining technology with a guaranteed lifespan of 40 years.
The following storm drains are scheduled to be repaired in 2024:
- Bartram Road
- Goose Quill Lane
- Lillibridge Crossing
- Cuthbert Lane
- Ogeechee Ferry Lane
- Pettigrew Drive
- Stone Hewer Lane
- Vesty Lane
- Turtle Lane
- Deerpath Lane
- Hazel Glen Lane
The 2024 Storm Drains Repair Project will take place in two phases of the community beginning in the Marshwood area, with an estimated completion date of September 2024. The contract with Southeast Pipe Survey to clean and line approximately 3,157 linear feet in the Marshwood area is $600,142. The overall 2024 Storm Drains Repair Project will be funded through the Capital Reserves Fund and is budgeted at a cost of $1,064,000.
