Chatham County Plans to Take Over Fire Services in Unincorporated Chatham County

As has previously been reported, last year Chatham County commissioned a study to review establishing a County-run fire department for unincorporated Chatham County, which includes The Landings. This would replace fire services from Chatham Emergency Services (CES). This also followed a change where Chatham County began billing for these services, rather than CES.

The Landings Association has been notified by CES that this transfer of services could happen as soon as July 1. As reported by the Savannah Morning News (https://www.savannahnow.com/story/news/local/2024/05/24/chatham-commissioners-plans-to-transfer-fire-services-from-private-to-county/73841649007/), this is pending Chatham County’s budget review process. CES also has advised us the County will keep Paramedics at Station #5.

The Association has reached out to the County Manager for an update and to discuss retaining 24/7 Paramedic coverage on Skidaway Island. However, it is important to note that we have no decision-making authority in this matter and all questions or concerns should be directed to County officials. As we learn more, we will share details.
