Disturbing the Peace

On Sunday, June 9, Security received a call in reference to an individual falling from a moving vehicle. The caller advised that the vehicle’s passenger attempted to assist the individual, but he became combative with her. The man remained combative when Security, Chatham Emergency Services (CES), and Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) attempted to make contact with him. The vehicle’s passenger informed Officers that the man had a seizure and was disoriented. CCPD Officers were able to detain the man and allow medical personnel to assess him.

Vandalism

On Friday, June 7, Security responded to Delegal Creek Marina for a report of vandalism to the telescope at the top of the observation tower. Upon arrival, the Officer observed the telescope was leaning to the side due to the base being damaged. The Public Works Facilities Operations Manager advised that the structure was inspected on Tuesday, June 4, and in good working order. However, a resident called on Thursday, June 6, to report that the telescope was damaged. It is unknown who caused the damage.

Traffic Safety

The Guardian Pro camera/LIDAR system remained on Landings Way South near Black Hawk Trail North. From June 5 to June 11, the system recorded 349 violations, with the highest recorded speed being 62 MPH. While sending courtesy notices this week, staff discovered that the letters were not being received by the intended recipients. We are working with our database and IT providers to determine the root cause of the issue and resolve it, so we can resume sending notices. As a reminder, courtesy notices and warnings no longer will be issued effective July 1. Fines will be assessed for those individuals who are recorded exceeding the posted speed limit.

TLA Rules and Regulations Enforcement

• Warnings were issued to commercial vendors for no safety cones and no logos on RFID-equipped vehicles.
• A $150 fine was issued to a vendor for no safety cones and no logos on an RFID-equipped vehicle.
• Warnings were issued to residents for an unaccompanied guest fishing in a lagoon, operating a golf cart without a driver's license, and early placement of bulk trash.
