Dry Rack Replacement – Phase Two

Uniformed Concrete is taking down the existing K, L, and M racks. Dismantling the structure and removing all the material is scheduled to be completed by the middle of next week. Foundation work will begin immediately after, preparing for the new steel building tentatively scheduled to arrive during the third week of February.

Free Vessel Safety Checks - Saturday, March 2 and Wednesday, March 6, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Tybee Light Sail & Power Squadron is offering FREE Vessel Safety Checks at Landings Harbor Marina. Due to the construction of the new dry rack, this first round of inspections will be offered to boaters with boats in the wet slips, on level one of dry racks, and those currently on wash racks. They will announce additional dates and times for the remaining boats later. Boat owners should have an up-to-date registration card and a current hull registration sticker. Check the expiration date on your emergency flares and fire extinguishers, and replace them as needed. They will test your vessel’s navigation lights, so please have your ignition keys and battery on. The inspection takes 15-30 minutes depending on the boat size. Having the items on the Safety Checklist pulled out before the inspection will help t complete the process quicker.  The Checklist includes the items listed below.

  • Display of Numbers
  • Registration/Documentation
  • Personal Flotation Devices
  • Visual Distress Signals
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Sound Producing Devices
  • Navigation Lights
  • Engine Cutoff Switch w/Lanyard

Learn To Sail – Saturday, April 27

There will be a Basic Sailing Course led by a certified Society for the Education of American Sailors (SEAS)  instructor in collaboration with sailors from The Landings Sailing Club (TLSC). The class is intended to teach the basics of sailing to those age 21 and over who have never been on a sailboat, as well as those with some experience. The two-day intensive course includes interactive classroom instruction plus an on-the-water session to practice boat and sail-handling skills. The next scheduled class is Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The water session will be held the following Tuesday or Wednesday based on the student and instructor availability, weather, and tides. The cost for the course is $100 per student, $25 of which will be refunded if you join TLSC within 30 days after joining as a full-time member. Every student needs to be a Landings resident. For more information call Angela Margolit (973-296-8011). To register, email her (amargolit@hotmail.com).

Forklift and Seasonal Hires

Currently, we are looking for experienced forklift drivers and a handful of seasonal team members. If you know anyone that may be interested in joining our Marinas Team, please direct them to www.landings.org/careers.

Landings Harbor Storage

Dry, wet, and jet ski storage are currently full. We will continue to maintain all waiting lists. We are currently in Phase Two of the Dry Rack Storage Project. To do so, we have temporarily relocated boats that were in the racks that will be replaced. Boatcloud reservation times have been adjusted to allow for timely boat moves during the construction project in the dry storage area. Some boats have been relocated to other areas of the marina during construction so please use the Boatcloud App for your requests.

We have moved the red, small craft advisory flag to the main flagpole close to the Sunset Pavilion. Both bathrooms by the screened-in porch are open as well.  All boats weathered the storm, and we are happy to report that Delegal Creek Marina is in great shape.
