Chatham County 911 Dispatch

The Landings Association (TLA) continues working with Chatham County 911 Dispatch towards being notified in a timely manner for medical and fire emergencies in our community. Recently, TLA purchased G5 pagers that will connect directly to the County’s dispatch system for calls to Chatham County Emergency Services Engine 5 (paramedic) and Engine 9. We continue efforts to get Skidaway Island First Responders looped into these dispatches as well and strongly encourage residents to get actively involved by writing Country Commissioner Pat Farrell (district4@chathamcounty.org).

Theft

On Monday, January 22, a resident contacted Security to report a theft. The resident advised that he had paid a contractor on November 30, 2023, to perform work on his home. However, the work was never completed. A report was filed with Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) on January 4 regarding the incident. The resident also advised that he attempted to file with small claims court, but papers could not be served as he did not have the contractor’s address. CCPD advised the resident to seek legal counsel regarding the matter.

On Monday, January 22, a Sheriff’s Deputy from Glynn County came to the Main Gate for information about a vehicle that was involved in a theft. The Deputy reported that a landscaping trailer was stolen from Brunswick, and cameras were able to determine that the vehicle was last tagged on Skidaway Island. A search of the Avigilon camera system showed the vehicle entering the community earlier in the day. The Deputy responded to the location and identified the stolen vehicle. The Deputy had the vehicle removed as evidence, and the investigation is ongoing.

Gas Leak

On Wednesday, January 17, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Security responded to Landings Way North at Barnwell Lane for a report of a gas leak. Chatham Emergency Services (CES) was on scene blocking southbound traffic on Landings Way North. Security relieved CES and took over blocking the roadway. The gas leak was caused by a Georgia Power subcontractor working in the area. Atlanta Gas arrived on scene and advised that the road should remain closed until the leak could be repaired due to its location. The leak was repaired at approximately 2:45 p.m., and the road was reopened.

Potential Theft of Mail

Security responded to a residence on Landings Way North on Thursday, January 18, for a report of a possible theft. The resident advised that she had sent out several checks which never made it to the intended recipients. She was unsure if the mail was lost or possibly stolen from her mailbox. No further reports have been received regarding this issue recently.

Traffic Safety

The Guardian Pro Traffic Camera remained on Landings Way South near The Landings Association’s office. The system recorded 904 violations from January 17 -23. The highest speed recorded was 62 MPH. Residents, guest, vendors, and employees are reminded to operate vehicles in a safe and responsible manner while remaining in compliance with traffic laws and community speed limits which are 30 MPH unless otherwise posted.  Staff continue to work on sending traffic notices for vehicles identified as traveling more than the posted speed limit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Warnings and Citations

• Warnings and citations were issued to vendors for no logos on RFID-equipped vehicles and not having safety cones.
• Warnings were issued to residents and guests for unauthorized parking, having a boat, trailer, or RV parked overnight, having a dumpster without a permit, overnight parking in the street, having a covered vehicle, early placement of dry or bulk trash, placing dry trash on common property, and having an overflowing dumpster.
