Robin Wright Gunn, Project Coordinator for The Ossabaw Island Foundation (TOIF), is the featured guest speaker for CCA Skidaway’s seminar on Monday, November 13 starting at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church (3 Westridge Road).

Ossabaw Island is the third largest barrier island in Georgia. It is a Heritage Preserve owned by the State of Georgia. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages the island and the Ossabaw Island Foundation maintains several island buildings and coordinates on-island programming. Robin’s presentation will explain the TOIF’s efforts to inspire, promote, and manage exceptional educational, cultural, and scientific programs designed to maximize the experience of Ossabaw Island. She also will reflect on the life of Eleanor “Sandy” Torrey West, founding member of Ossabaw’s Heritage Preserve in 1978.

Robin joined the Ossabaw Island Foundation (TOIF) staff in 2013 as Project Coordinator after 10 years as a TOIF volunteer and independent contractor. She coordinates special events, media relations and fundraising efforts; staffs committees; and handles registration and trip coordination for all trips to Ossabaw Island. She also hosts and provides historic interpretation for day trips on Ossabaw. The Savannah native graduated from Savannah Country Day School and holds an A.B. in English from University of Georgia. Her career has included 10 years in community planning in Portland, Oregon and Savannah; nine years as a freelance features writer; and four years as proprietor of Hannah Banana Books: A Neighborhood Bookstore in Habersham Village. She lives in a mid-century ranch house in Daffin Heights neighborhood in Savannah.

CCA’s raffle prize for this month is a ticket for two for the CCA Skidaway Oyster Roast and Pig Pickin on Sunday, December 3 from 2 to 4 p.m., valued at $150.
