Landings Residents Encouraged to Report Yellow-Legged Hornet Sightings

The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) asks Landings residents to be on the lookout for yellow-legged hornets and report any sightings to yellow.legged.hornet@agr.georgia.gov.

Recently, this invasive species has been reported in Palmetto between Delegal Creek Marina and Sunset Park. GDA recently placed a hive in this area to trap the hornets. You can read more here about these hornets that could threaten honey production and Georgia's native pollinators. The yellow-legged hornets have been found mostly in pine trees near water sources. Please click here to watch a quick video of what the hornets look like, and read this press release from GDA sharing details about a nest in Savannah that recently was eradicated.
