Georgia Power to Upgrade Electric System in The Landings
Georgia Power recently informed The Landings Association of its plan to spend almost $3 million upgrading parts of the electric system in The Landings. This work will begin next week and will be completed over the next couple of months. Georgia Power plans to replace almost eight miles of cable that was installed in the mid-1980s, as well as upgrade four power cubicles.
Georgia Power reports this work will improve reliability in The Landings, and also shorten power outages when they do occur, as they will be able to switch around such outages.
Major areas of work include Landings Way North, Bartram Road, and Priest Landing Drive corridors.
Below are details from Georgia Power:
Skidaway Island Underground Improvements
To improve reliability, Georgia Power is helping to build the future of energy by investing in the electric grid, making it stronger and more resilient. This work will include replacing underground power lines in your area.
Here’s What You Can Expect
- Prior to and during construction, you will see an increase of third-party contracted crews operating equipment and vehicles along the side of the road, in the rights-of-way, and in areas along sidewalks and small portions of lawns.
- Field surveyors will begin to evaluate the project area, collecting necessary data for the project team to prepare for construction. They may mark areas with water-soluble paint, and place temporary flags or protective covers throughout the work area.
- Construction activities may include digging, drilling, and equipment replacement or installation. Crews may stockpile necessary dirt, construction equipment, materials, and vehicles during construction. Any land disturbed during the project will be fully restored.
- To work safely and minimize inconveniences, traffic controls and lane closures may be necessary along the work area. Please use caution when traveling in these areas. Crews will help ensure you can get where you need to be.
- Crews associated with these projects may have a different company logo than Georgia Power. However, they will have proper identification.
- If any planned power outages are required to safely complete this work, you will be given notice ahead of time.
