On the Security Scene
Theft
On September 5, Landings Security responded to a call regarding an alleged monetary theft from a resident’s vehicle. The vehicle appeared to be unlocked at the time of the theft and no suspects or witnesses have been identified. We encourage all Landings residents, guests, vendors and employees to lock vehicle doors upon exiting.
Juvenile Disturbance
On September 4, Landings Security responded to a report of juveniles swimming in one of the lagoons. When Security arrived and contacted the juvenile residents, they stated one of their fishing hooks was snagged and they were trying to free the hook. The juveniles did, in fact, have fishing poles. Landings Security informed both adolescents of the dangers of entering the lagoons.
Suspicious Incident
On August 31, Security made contact with a suspicious person trying to gain entry at our Main Gate. Officers asked for the individual’s name, but a false name was provided and authorization to enter could not be obtained from the sponsoring resident. The guest in question was finally admitted under another sponsoring resident’s name, but the guest was later seen at the first address provided. Residents are reminded guests are their responsibility and once granted access into the community their guests do not have carte-blanche access to travel throughout the community or visit another residence without the sponsoring resident’s knowledge and permission. The guest was also reminded of these protocols.
Reckless Driving
Security responded to several complaints of reckless driving throughout The Landings. All parties have been contacted and informed of The Landings Rules and Regulations regarding speed limits and careless driving while operating a motor vehicle in the community.
Solicitation
On September 4, Security responded to a report of an individual soliciting by passing out flyers. Upon the Officer’s arrival, the individual was not located, and no flyers were found. Residents are reminded to always adhere to the rules for solicitation, and to notify Security in case of vendors soliciting.
Vandalism
On September 4, Security arrived at Landings Community Park and witnessed one of the picnic tables flipped over and a large amount of litter and debris. The Landings does not tolerate this kind of behavior. The area was cleaned, and an investigation is being conducted to include reviewing video files.
