Public Works...Working for You!
2023 Storm Drain Project
This week, Southeast Pipe continued working on Phase 2 of this year’s storm drain capital project in the Marshwood area of the community. Southeast Pipe will soon pause work in Marshwood to address an emergency storm drain repair on Little Comfort Road and at the intersection of Westcross Road and Cabbage Crossing due to flooding issues.
2023 Lagoon Dredging Program
Conventional dredging (use of an excavator) in Lagoon 92 (off of Yam Gandy Road) has been completed and all disturbed areas have been restored. Crews are in the process of mobilizing equipment into Lagoon 51 (near the intersection of Westcross Road and Cabbage Crossing). Lagoon 51 will be dredged using a hydraulic method of dredging, wherein material from the lagoon is pumped into geotextile bags where the material has adequate time to dewater. The bags will be near the community path in this area and will take approximately two-to-six weeks to dry. After the allotted time, staff will remove the dried sediment and restore the area. Staff then will use the two methods of dredging to determine a cubic yard price for budget comparison for future dredging projects.
Gatehouse and Signage Pressure Washing
In-house staff completed pressure washing the gatehouses and monument signs this week. They also completed pressure washing mailbox posts and signage on Yam Gandy Road in preparation for the mailbox and sign painting program along this road.
