Coastal Communications Meetings 

On Tuesday, Public Works staff and the Coastal Communications Management team met to develop a plan for staging their operations crew and equipment. After touring several possible staging locations, staff determined that the Recycling Facility would be the best location for staging the Coastal Communications equipment and small mobile office. On Wednesday, Karl and Sean met onsite with Coastal Communication’s subcontractor to finalize the fiber installation locations, communications, and project milestones.

Deer Creek (McWhorter) Automatic Gate Replacement Project 

The Deer Creek (McWhorter) Automatic Gate was closed for part of the day on Tuesday and Wednesday to allow Remote Technology adequate time to work on the remaining issues associated with the gate access equipment. Remote Technology has some additional work to complete to the after-hours sliding gate before final payment is released. 

Islands of Deer Creek Community Path Bridge

All bridges within the community are inspected monthly. During a recent inspection, staff identified superficial cracks on the new Islands of Deer Creek community path bridge. These cracks were expected as the concrete cured. Staff will continue to monitor the bridge and fill any cracks and/or replace concrete panels as needed.

2023 Road Replacement Project 

On Monday, Bennett Paving began milling and paving Phase one of Yam Gandy Road (Landings Way South (north entrance) to Southerland Road (north Entrance). They will begin Phase two next week – Yam Gandy Road from the south entrance of Landings Way South to the south entrance of Southerland Road.
