Skidaway Community Church Presents March Lenten Series

Skidaway Community Church (SCC) is pleased to invite Island friends and neighbors to participate in a four-part, March Lenten Series using classic films to explore themes of redemption, salvation, judgment, forgiveness and discipleship/shepherding. 

Starting with  6 p.m. soup suppers on March 1, 8, 22, and 29, the series will weave themes and classic films together as listed below. 

• March 1 - The Sandlot (1993) - Christ's salvation in baseball
• March 8 -  The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Christ's redemption in the film
• March 22 - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - Indiana Jones's journey to God
• March 29 - I Can Only Imagine (2018) - Salvation, Forgiveness, Redemption and Music

Participants may register for the Lenten Series on SCC's website (skidcc.org). To help defray food costs, a $5 contribution is requested for those joining in the weekly meals. For those wishing to attend the programs only, there is no charge. All four evenings will be hosted in Liston Hall on the church's Diamond Causeway campus.

SCC Pastor Jon Hauerwas, assisted by members of the Discipleship Committee, will guide the weekly discussions. 

"Based on feedback generated by our fall '22 Abrahamic Religions Series and last spring's Lenten programs, Skidaway Community Church welcomes the '23 Lenten Series as another opportunity to encourage learning and discussion among Island friends and neighbors," Hauerwas said.
