Skidaway Audubon News: Audubon Hosts Owl Expert February 24

With a great horned owl on full display at landingsbirdcam.com, there couldn’t be a better time to learn all about the owls of Skidaway Island.

An owl expert from Oatland Island Wildlife Center will present all of the fascinating details about these treasured raptors on February. 24, as part of Skidaway Audubon’s ongoing speaker series. The presentation will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church (1 West Ridge Road) at 4 p.m.

Included in the presentation will be the opportunity to meet an adorable screech owl. These elusive raptors are very hard to spot in the wild due to their small size and brown-gray feathers that make them well-camouflaged in the woods.

The event is free for Friends of Skidaway Audubon members who show their membership card. The admission fee is $5 for non-members, payable by cash or check at the door.  Attendance is limited to 50 people. You can register now at skidawayaudubon.org/events.
