Nursery Tour Set for October 22
How do commercial growers produce quality plants year after year? Join us on October 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Oelschig Nursery to learn their secrets of success. We will tour Oelschig Nursery, the Southeast’s oldest nursery, located just east of downtown Savannah.
Founded in 1882, Oelschig Nursery has been in business for nearly 140 years. A fourth-generation, family-owned wholesale nursery, Oelschig specializes in providing colorful, healthy, flowering plants to landscapers throughout the Low Country and Coastal Empire, with deliveries as far north as Charleston and as far south as St. Simons Island.
Organized by Skidaway Audubon, the tour is set for Friday, October 22. Participants will meet at the greenhouses located at 2705 Gregory Street in Savannah, at 10:30 a.m. for the one-hour tour. All participants must register in advance online (skidawayaudubon.org/events). This event is limited to 25 people and is free. The rain date is October 29.
Skidaway Audubon encourages the planting of flowering plants that attract bees and other pollinators. It maintains the pollinator garden at Sparrow Field off Bartram Road.  Join Friends of Skidaway Audubon to support Audubon’s environmental and educational projects. Membership is just $35 a year.
