Athletic Field Lighting

Georgia Power was onsite last week to mark the perimeter of the Athletic Field with the intended placement of new lighting. Georgia Power is scheduled to trench (to install the necessary electrical lines) next week. Once the underground wiring has been installed, staff will schedule the installation of the perimeter walking path.

Sustainable Community Recertification

On Thursday, staff received notification that The Landings was recertified as a Sustainable Community by Audubon International. The Sustainable Communities Program is an international, science-based, third-party certification program that guides communities through a customized journey to become healthy and vibrant places in which to live, work, and play. The Landings was initially certified in 2018, and recertification is required every three years. The recertification would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of Sustainable Skidaway, Skidaway Audubon, and several other volunteer groups throughout the island and staff. Staff are in the process of drafting a communication detailing the recertification.

2021 Community Path Project

On Monday, Absolute Concrete began the demolition of the community path from The Village to Sundew Road in the Deer Creek phase of the community. Barring any weather delays, this section of path will be completed in three weeks.

Barnwell Lane Storm Drain Root Intrusion

On Tuesday, staff received notification of a clogged surface drain located on Barnwell Lane (connects into the storm drain pipe that runs from Barnwell Lane to Landings Way North). In-house staff arrived onsite to evaluate. However, crews were unable to remove the blockage. On Wednesday, the Southeast Pipe Survey camera crew arrived onsite to evaluate and determined that the pipe has at least two large root intrusions which are causing the blockage. Staff are in the process of scheduling Southeast Pipe’s repair crew to remove the root intrusions. In the interim, the pipe was cleaned to help improve the drainage until the root intrusions can be removed.
