CCA of Skidaway has resumed monthly seminars. For the first quarter of the year, the seminars will be conducted via Zoom, with meetings beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting approximately an hour. The Zoom meetings will be similar to previous meetings in format, including a monthly raffle for valuable prizes. Advanced registration is required. Registration is available through the CCA of Skidaway website (ccaskidaway.org). On the homepage, click on “Click Here to Register”. A link to the Zoom feed will be sent to you prior to the meeting. The topic of the February presentation, which will be held on Monday, February 8, will center on fishing in The Landings’ brackish lagoons, with speaker Doug Painter, a lifelong angler and a senior writer and editorial adviser for Sporting Classics Magazine. He will present the CCA of Skidaway chapter’s new photo narration on getting started fishing in The Landings’ freshwater lagoons, Fishing a la Cart. The March seminar, scheduled for Monday, March 8, will take a wide-ranging look at the unique resource provided by The Landings’ Kids’ Fishing Lagoon. The focus will be fishing tips, the youth nature and fishing program, the Cast Away Club at the CCA’s Outdoor Education Center, and volunteer opportunities associated with helping out with the various school groups invited to come in for a morning or afternoon of fishing fun. Once again, the presentation will be given by Doug Painter. Each meeting attendee will receive one free raffle ticket, compliments of CCA, as a thank you to all who supported the organization during the challenges of 2020. Additional tickets can be purchased in quantities of 1 ($5), 3 ($10), or 7 ($20) through the website, and the proceeds will go to support CCA programs in the coming year. In February, two lucky people will each win a certificate good for a place on a Telecaster Inshore Charters trip, with the time and date to be arranged with Captain Kevin Rose. In March, the excursion will be led by Captain Jack McGowan of Coastal River Charters. The seat pairs are valued at $350. You must remain on the Zoom feed until the winners are drawn to win.
