Storm Drain Work

Southeast Pipe completed the lining of an additional section of pipe at the intersection of Priest Landing Drive and Landings Way North utilizing the CIPP (Cured in Place Piping) slip lining technique this week. The contractor also completed a camera inspection of the storm drain pipe located on Sea Dog Court. All costs associated with this work were funded through the capital project contingency line item, which was budgeted and approved for any additional work that was required.

Sweeper Maintenance in Community

In response to the inclement weather conditions this week, the construction department has three sweeper units operating throughout the community to try to stay ahead of the increased downfall on the roadways.

Bridge Inspections and Maintenance

Following bridge inspections this month, inhouse crews compiled a list of bridges that required maintenance. This week, in-house crews completed board replacements, sanded down trip hazards, screwed down loose boards, and repaired railings on the Islands of Deer Creek Bridge, the Lagoon 106 Bridge (on Landings Way South near Delegal Marina), and the bridge located off Hasleiter’s Retreat near the Gazebo.

Lagoon Stabilization Plant Installations

To help with erosion issues along the lagoon banks of Lagoons 84 and 85 (off Yam Gandy Road), saltwater grasses were planted around these lagoons to help stabilize the banks naturally. Over the next several months, staff will continue to monitor the banks to ensure further erosion has not occurred.

Lagoon Cutbacks

The annual lagoon cutback program continued this week in the Midpoint area of the community. The purpose of the annual lagoon cutback program is to remove unwanted vegetation from the lagoon banks while promoting beneficial vegetation growth and stabilization along the banks. Cutbacks in Deer Creek and Moon River have already been completed.
