Kids Fishing Derby Has a New Date for the Fall

Dear Friends and Members of CCA Skidaway,Ā 
In mid-April, due to the uncertainty of future Executive OrdersĀ from the GovernorĀ involving sheltering-in-place and social distancing rules, CCA Skidaway made the decision to postpone the Kids Fishing Derby from its normally scheduled slot on the Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend to sometime this fall.
Because many earlier rescheduledĀ island eventsĀ now areĀ being targeted for resumption in theĀ fourthĀ quarterĀ of the year, we decided to set a tentative date of October 17 to conduct this yearās Derby,Ā and we want to get the dateĀ on everyoneās calendar. Savannah-Chatham CountyĀ Schools authoritiesĀ recently decidedĀ to reopenĀ schoolsĀ in August,Ā and they areĀ anticipating that children will be returning to a safe environment. Weāll have several weeks to see what that experienceĀ looksĀ like forĀ the schoolsĀ before we make a final decision about holdingĀ the Derby. We hope to make the go/no announcement sometime in September.
Meanwhile, we will continue to monitor theĀ Kids Fishing LagoonāsĀ conditions throughout the summer andāÆexpect the blue gills to remain active and plentiful while weĀ feed them fish pelletsĀ dailyĀ using the automated feeders.Ā PleaseĀ mark your calendars, stay tuned for a future announcement,Ā andĀ be safe. WeĀ hope to see you and the kids in the fall!
