How do you spell the name of the Jewish holiday for the Festival of Lights? Is it Chanukah or Hanukkah? Technically, both spellings plus nearly 15 others are correct, as there is no direct translation from the Hebrew sounds into English. This year, Hanukkah is observed from sundown on December 22 to sundown on December 30.
