Wine for Wheels Bahama Relief Event, November 22

The devastation from Hurricane Dorian hit the two areas in the Grand Bahamas -- Freeport and Abaco -- where our wheelchairs were sent after our Wine for Wheels event last October.

You can imagine the initial joy when our container of 110 wheelchairs arrived this past May in Freeport! Wheelchairs were given to so many needy and variously-abled people in addition to several clinics on Abaco, located in Marsh Harbour and Coopers Town.

It is heart-wrenching to learn that the islands were severely damaged, and the fate of the recipients, islanders, and undistributed wheelchairs is unknown. Our prayers, concerns, and heartfelt thoughts are sent to all the people who sustained such a catastrophic loss.

Consequently, this year, we are recommitted to helping the people in the Bahamas. We are focused on providing 280 wheelchairs to differently-abled Bahamians who need mobility and hope as they embrace the difficult task of recovering and rebuilding their lives.

Please join us on Friday, November 22 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for the 4th Annual Wine for Wheels Charity Cocktail Party to benefit the Wheelchair Foundation. Since our first three events in The Landings, we have distributed nearly 500 wheelchairs in Georgia and the Caribbean.

This year’s event promises to be exceptional! We can assure you fabulous wine tasting, sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, elegant desserts, body-moving steel drum music, and incredible silent auction items in a Caribbean setting at the Cartledge (27 Seawatch Drive).

Dress for this event is “Tommy Bahama Attire”. Please, no shorts allowed and no heels for the ladies. Shuttle carts will be provided to bring guests to the home from street parking in the area. If it is a clear evening, guests are encouraged to come in their golf carts and park closer to the home.

Admission is $75 per person, and all proceeds go towards buying wheelchairs. You can buy tickets online at www.wineforwheels.org. The Foundation’s goal is to provide a free wheelchair to every child, teen, and adult worldwide who needs one but has no way to pay for one. The Wheelchair Foundation is the world’s largest wheelchair relief organization.
