SIBC’s Fourth Annual Low Country Hook Race: August 24
Mark your calendars for the Skidaway Island Boating Club’s (SIBC) Fourth Annual Low County Hook Ocean Race on August 24. This is one of the region’s premier sailing events!
Unlike most races, the Hook takes place in open ocean waters, and it continues to attract more and more skippers from the tri-state area who are up for the challenge of facing the winds and waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
The daylong race begins at Hilton Head and concludes at Landings Harbor Marina with a celebratory dinner party and awards ceremony with live music. The dinner is open to participants, sponsors, SIBC members, and guests. Sailboats are expected to approach the finish line and dock between 3 and 5 p.m. The celebration begins at 6 p.m., with awards, dinner catered by Barnes Catering, and live music featuring the Towering Pines. Dinner tickets are $20 per person for SIBC members and $25 for non-members. Tickets are available online (skidawayislandboatingclub.org) until August 16. No tickets will be sold on race day.
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Bay Street Realty Group, returns as the Premier Sponsor of the race. Distinguished Sponsors are AB Bernstein and Chatham Parkway Lexus. Contributing Sponsors are Sound View Wealth Advisors, CGO Wealth Management Group, J.C. Lewis Ford, Vaden Chevrolet, Craftmasters Construction Co., Sailor’s Nautical Services, Hinckley Yacht Services, Cay Insurance Services, and Dr. David Palmer/Optim Orthopedics. In-kind services provided by Coastal Conservation Association, CCA, Landings Harbor Marina, and Carefree at The Landings.
SIBC promotes boating and the use of the Skidaway Island waterfront. Boat ownership is not a requirement. The club has more than 100 members and holds monthly social events. The membership fee is $75. To become a member, visit our website (skidawayislandboatingclub.org). For more information, email siboatingclub@gmail.com.
