The Landings Association Trending with Hashtags

Have you ever seen a friend post a photo or an update on social media with a hashtag, but didn’t really know why or what the trend is all about?

These hashtags, which are created by placing the hash character (#) in front of a word or unspaced phrase, make it easier for users to find messages/photos with a specific theme or content. Hashtags also can be used for a specific event to capture any photos taken by attendees.

For example, #SunsetSips could refer to all photos and posts from a Sunset Sips event held by The Landings Association.

They may look like the old school pound sign, but if you click on these little labels, you will be redirected to posts and photos taken by other people who once were in the same location you now visit. For example, on the photo-sharing service Instagram, the hashtag #sunnyday allows users to find images that have been tagged (or labeled) as containing sunshine or related to a sunny day.

This social media information can be especially beneficial when you are visiting a location for the first time or looking for ways to make the most of your visit.

In keeping with this theme, The Landings Association uses several hashtags when posting Landings-related photos and posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. These hashtags are:

  • #LandingsLifeOnSkidaway
  • #LandingsLife
  • #SavannahCoastalLiving
  • #LandingsOnSkidawayIsland
  • #TLASkidaway

We encourage all residents with social media accounts to join us in posting appropriate Landings-related content that will help spread the word about our wonderful community while showcasing the beauty of Skidaway Island. Who knows? These posts just might help potential new neighbors decide to make The Landings their home! #Awesome!
