Dredging Underway at Landings Harbor Marina

The annual dredging of Landings Harbor's began on Thursday morning (July 25) and will continue through most of August. The goal of the project is to remove the silt that has been deposited in the basin over the last year, with The Landings Association being permitted to dredge to a depth of eight feet at mean low water.

The majority of the dredging will take place at night to reduce inconvenience to boaters, and the only noise associated with the project will be the diesel engine running and the booster pump on land.

Marinas Director Rory Jose advises that when visiting the Harbor, everyone should be cautious of pipes and other potential hazards.

“Please remain alert and be aware of piping, as it will be along the cart path and portions of the floating dock,” Jose said. “Also, boaters should be aware of the aluminum piping floating in the basin during the dredging operation. Barring any unforeseen issues, the dredging should be completed by the end of August.”

Jose added that although the dredging process takes time and can be an inconvenience to boaters, the temporary trouble is well worth the benefits.

“Our primary focus is to keep Landings Harbor operating at full capacity and allow access for all boaters,” he said.
