Public Works...Working for You!

Tree Work in Common Property Courtyards

The Tree Crew currently is uplifting and removing dead wooding trees located in the common property courtyards that abut patio lot homes. To date, work has been completed on Village Green Circle, Willeford Drive, and Mainsail Crossing. Crews will be working on the courtyards along Landings Way South next week (e.g., Vandy Court,  Amberly Court and Westferry Court). Crews will progress to the North end of Priest Landing after completing the courtyards along Landings Way South. This work is completed on a three-year cycle and is designed to help the overall health of the urban forest, while improving the aesthetics of the trees.

Lagoon Cutbacks

The lagoon crew worked on the lagoon cutbacks in the Moon River area of the community this week. The lagoon cutback program is completed operationally and encompasses the uplifting of vegetation overhanging the lagoons, as well as removing woody any new growth around the lagoon banks. This is completed to help improve the aesthetics of the lagoon, while keeping the lagoon banks clear enough to allow adequate access for lagoon maintenance personnel.

Deer Creek Village Gate Maintenance

The intercom post for the callbox at the Deer Creek Village Gatehouse was damaged at the base when a vehicle approached it too close and hit it. In-house staff removed the damaged post and base, welded a new base, and reinstalled the intercom post in its original location.

The streetlights on the entrance side of the Deer Creek Village Gate were intermittently malfunctioning. In-house staff diagnosed the problem, which turned out to be a faulty ground wire. The ground wire was repaired restoring constant power to the streetlights.

Weather Station Installation at Skidaway Farms

In-house staff installed a new weather station at Skidaway Farms this week. This weather station collects rainfall data for the island along with several other weather stations across the community to better understand the amount of rainfall the island receives per rainfall event and annually.
