The Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Skidaway Chapter is thrilled to announce the return of our two renowned fishing experts, Bruce White and Phil Hunter. These “Afishionados” will be our guest speakers on Monday, January 12, beginning at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from two of the best on the island!

Bruce and Phil are back to share their extensive knowledge and passion for fishing our lagoons. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a curious beginner, their insights will enrich your understanding of the fascinating world beneath the waters.

They will guide you through the essential fishing gear needed to enhance your fishing experience. From the basics to the more advanced equipment, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of what tools are necessary for successful fishing.

In addition to technical skills, Bruce and Phil will emphasize the importance of conservation in fishing. They will discuss how anglers can support sustainable practices and contribute to the preservation of our precious marine ecosystems.

In 2023, Bruce and his wife, Mary made the significant move from New Orleans to this island, and it was one of the best decisions ever made. From the moment he stepped onto the island, he was captivated by the natural beauty and the promise of adventure that awaited him in the form of fishing the 151 lagoons scattered across The Landings. These lagoons have proven to be a true fishing paradise, offering a diverse and abundant aquatic life that caters to both freshwater and saltwater fishing enthusiasts. Bruce immediately set a goal to catching at least one fish from every lagoon, he met his goal and caught a fish in every lagoon!

Phil has been a Landing’s resident for five years. He goes fishing 350 days a year demonstrating his unwavering passion for the sport. This past year he has caught an average of 250 fish a month showcasing his exceptional skill and persistence. Phil prefers using a plastic worm for bait, a testament to his strategic approach and expertise in angling.

Join us for an informative and inspiring evening that promises to deepen your connection to the sport and the natural world. We look forward to seeing you there!
