President’s Update - December 19, 2024
Dear Neighbors,
As your new Landings Association President, I look forward to welcoming 2025 with great enthusiasm, excitement, and humility. We are blessed to live in a community with wonderful natural treasures and an abundance of human resources, including a dedicated Board that serves you, an excellent staff, and hundreds of resident volunteers, who bring their experience and talents to our community for its betterment and success.
The Landings has evolved quite well over its 53 years (yes, there have been hiccups). Now we must pave the way to the future, not only to invest in our infrastructure but to continue to improve our community for the changing times and to make us every bit as desirable and successful down the road as we are today.
What that looks like is being captured in our current Strategic Plan activities for 2025-2027 and will be the focus of our Board Retreat in the coming weeks. The Board will be elaborating on upcoming initiatives for 2025 and beyond, to ensure a sustainable and thriving community for years to come. We will do this work with resident/community feedback and desires, assuring we keep fiscal responsibility top of mind.
With a population of nearly 10,000 residents, there will be a vast and differing array of ideas, which we will consider in hopes of pursuing what is in the best interest of the community.
In the near term, 2025 will focus on a wide array of items, including repairing/replacing a portion of our 53-years-old, approximately 89 miles of storm drains, implementing the next phase of our dry stack enhancement project, expanding RV storage, resurfacing a portion of our 22 miles of paved paths and 91 miles of roads, and focusing on increasing cart path safety.
A special thanks to our three Board members transitioning off the Board. We owe a debt of gratitude to Herman Stone, Cary Shapoff, and Bill Bina (who will stay on as Ex-Officio), for three amazing years of service to our community. We extend a warm welcome to Bill Ansley, Rob Burch, and Don Wurzel, who are joining our Board this year with sleeves rolled up and ready to further The Landings Association’s Vision and Strategic Plan.
Looking ahead, we want to further our mission…to enhance the value of living in The Landings...in a fiscally responsible and efficient manner via prudent decisions that benefit and strengthen the overall community now and in the future.
Thank you for your commitment to the continued success of The Landings today and for generations to come.
Happy Holidays!
Patty Morgan
2025 President, The Landings Association
