President’s Update - November 20, 2024

Bill Bina
President, The Landings Association

November 30 marks the official end of Hurricane Season, but tropical storms seem to persist and pester the southeastern United States. This reminds us to stay vigilant and keep up to date on the local weather forecasts.

Speaking of storms, I am thankful that Chatham County has made great progress in removing the storm debris from our streets. Ours was removed late last week!

Our focus on reducing speeding on our roads continues, and we are making progress. Most of us follow the posted limits. Some do not. The Guardian Pro Speed Radar Camera/LIDAR system, and levying of fines has been effective in modifying the driving behaviors for a number of us. However, there still are some super speeders among us.

Recently, someone moved and damaged the radar system, while it was located on Shellwind Drive. The Landings Association (TLA) is working with Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) to identify the person(s) responsible. It would be wise for the person(s) responsible to talk with TLA and pay property damages before CCPD completes its investigation and presses charges. You can reach out to TLA’s Traffic Safety and Compliance Officer Michael Tyler (michaelt@landings.org or 912-598-2520).

We have diverted this year’s funds for the proposed Landings Harbor Picnic Pavilion to help cover post Hurricane Helene cleanup costs. As a result, the task force’s work is delayed until next year.

Congratulations to the new TLA Board Directors and Officers for 2025.
