As the sweltering heat of summer fades, below are some tips to help keep your home in tip-top shape and ensure you’re ready for the winter ahead.

  1. Inspect and Clean Your Gutters

Falling leaves and debris can quickly clog gutters during this time of year. Consider using a plastic garden trowel to remove leaves, pine needles, and other debris. Keep an eye out for cracks, staining, or loose sections that might need repairs while cleaning. Gutter guards help to minimize clogs and buildup inside the gutters. Prefer to call a professional? Here's a list of gutter cleaning contractors.

  2. Clean and Store Outdoor Furniture

Fall weather in Georgia still can be pleasant, but preparing for the winter is a good idea. Wipe down and clean outdoor furniture to remove dirt and mildew. If possible, store furniture in a dry, covered area to extend its life.

  3. Prepare Your Yard

Your yard requires attention to thrive through the fall and winter months. Overseeding can help rejuvenate your lawn and prepare it for the spring. Overseeding is the planting of grass seed directly into existing turf, without tearing up the turf, or the soil. It's an easy way to fill in bare spots, improve the density of turf, and enhance your lawn's color.
