Trespassing

On Saturday, October 5, Security responded to the Deer Creek Village Gate for a report of a bicyclist hitting the gate arm and removing it from its post. The Avigilon camera system showed two cyclists utilizing the exit lane, and one of the cyclists knocked off the barrier arm. While patrolling Shellwind Drive, the Traffic Safety and Compliance Officer (TSCO) located two individuals who matched the description of the two cyclists. Upon making contact with them, he learned that the two individuals were not residents, nor did they have a resident sponsor. Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) was contacted and issued criminal trespass notices for both individuals. The cyclists were escorted off property.

Traffic Safety

The Guardian Pro camera/LIDAR system was placed back into service on October 4 on Franklin Creek Road South near Butterback Lane. Between October 2 and October 8, there were no speeding violations. Approximately 308 fines for violating the speed limit have been paid to date. Staff will be making courtesy phone calls to 25 individuals who are on the 60-days past due list for speeding violations. Failure to pay fines will result in the suspension of membership privileges, which includes suspension of all rights to use the Common Property, including suspension of RFID access, and all voting rights will be suspended. There will be a $75 reactivation fee per deactivated RFID. Furthermore, suspended residents will be required to escort their guests and daily vendors at the gate. The The Training and Safety Compliance Officer (TSCO) focused on the community paths this past week and did not observe any violations.

Hurricane Milton

Staff increased our operational readiness to OPCON 3 and continued to monitor Hurricane Milton, which was forecast to make landfall near Sarasota, Florida as a Major Hurricane early Thursday (October 10) morning. Staff attended several CEMA meetings and held virtual meetings for Skidaway Island’s Emergency Action Team. As of Wednesday (October 9), local impacts were expected to include gusty winds (20-50 MPH), high surf, rip tides, and possible flooding in low lying coastal areas. 

TLA Rules and Regulations Enforcement (sans Guardian Pro)

• Commercial violations were issued to three vendors for not having safety cones. One commercial violation was issued to a vendor for not having logos on an RFID-equipped vehicle.
• One violation was issued to a resident for operating a golf cart without a driver’s license.
