First Responders Update
Please remember to call 911 for all police, fire, and medical emergencies. On those same lines, when you call 911, be mindful that those answering the calls are unfamiliar with Skidaway Island.
When you call 911 for ANY emergency, please give the dispatcher as much information as possible. Telling someone on the other end of the phone that you’re on the golf course is not sufficient. Be specific. Which golf course? What street are you closest to? What hole?
When dispatch puts in the information, they need an address or at least the closest coordinates. Although it is confusing and sometimes overwhelming when you’re calling 911, keep in mind the more detailed information you can provide the better.
Golf carts. This topic is exhausting. It needs to be said again, and again, and again…STOP letting children sit in your lap while you’re driving,. Stop letting underaged drivers drive your cart, and for the millionth time, put children in car seats and/or seatbelts just as you would in an automobile.
Golf cart safety is a huge problem on our island. I will continue to be vigilant about this topic, but it has to be taken seriously by everyone.
Stay safe out there!
