Key Takeaways and Lessons Learned from Tropical Storm Debby

It has been nearly one month since Tropical Storm Debby came through our area drenching with heavy rains Savannah and The Landings in what weather forecasters say is at least 20 percent more rain than this area has seen in the last 100 years.

Fortunately, The Landings fared well, all things considered, thanks in part to the proactive work of The Landings Association's Public Works Department. The team spent countless hours before and during the storm addressing issues of backed-up stormwater inlets to help prevent flooding and opening all the lagoon valves around the island to ensure they drained into the marsh. Despite these efforts, there still was flooding in some areas in The Landings, which was expected due to high tide and the amount of rainfall.

Join Public Works Director Sean Burgess and me as we discuss the effects of Tropical Storm Debby in The Landings, as well as lessons learned from this experience.
