TLA Update
Your Landings Association Public Works, Marinas, and Security departments have been working all day today to prepare for the effects of the storm. Public Works has been addressing issues of backed up stormwater inlets to help prevent flooding, and all the lagoon valves around the island have been opened and the lagoons are draining into the marsh. It is important to note that despite these efforts, there still could be flooding in some areas in The Landings due to high tide and the amount of rainfall.
Public Works crews will be leaving the island shortly, and will return at 6 a.m., in the morning (August 6) to continue monitoring areas and addressing issues. They have coordinated with BrightView, our contracted landscaper to borrow some large equipment to help remove downed trees if needed.
As a reminder, TLA’s Administration Building (600 Landings Way) will be closed to foot traffic tomorrow (August 6). We will continue to serve customers remotely. You can reach staff members directly via email and phones. If you are unsure how to reach a staff member, please email webmaster@landings.org, and we will get them the message.
Landings Harbor Marina and Delegal Creek Marina also will close be closed tomorrow (August 6) and remain closed until it is deemed safe to reopen. The Wilmington River tides are predicted to reach more than seven feet at high tide during the late evening hours over the next two days. The dock access ramps will be removed and disconnected from the shore. Limited Marina staff will remain on standby throughout the storm event.
Landings Security will remain open 24/7, and have officers on call if needed. Public Works will be working extended hours, and and also have staff on call.
