Disturbing the Peace

At approximately 4 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, a resident on Bray Lane contacted Landings Security and Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) to report a disturbance. The resident advised that two teenage boys were banging on her door and running away. As she approached her door, the resident witnessed the individuals driving off on a golf cart. The incident was captured on her Ring doorbell camera. While patrolling the surrounding areas, Officers noticed a golf cart sitting in the middle of Wiley Bottom Road. CCPD activated their emergency lights and made contact with the individuals in the cart. The parents of both juveniles were contacted and advised of the situation. The driver of the cart was a non-property owner (NPO), and CCPD issued a criminal trespassing form stating that he could not enter Landings property without an authorized guest pass. His father advised that he would retrieve the cart at a later time.

Vandalism

On Monday, June 24, Security responded to Marina Drive for a report of vandalism. The resident advised that his neighbor had been walking her dog the previous evening and heard someone hit his mailbox. She also witnessed the individuals fumbling inside of another mailbox in the same area. The suspects were described as two teenage males in a white truck. Officers initially responded to the complaint but did not see any trucks matching the description provided. A SeeClickFix report was initiated for the damaged mailbox.

Suspicious Incidents

On Thursday, June 20, Security received a call regarding some suspicious incidents, which occurred at a residence on Wiley Bottom Road. The caller advised that some eggshell residue had been found in the mailbox the previous week. A few days later, there was a green greasy substance found on the mailbox. Then, on the night of Wednesday, June 19, someone rang the doorbell but ran off before anyone could respond to the door. The caller stated she felt like she was being targeted and requested extra patrols in the area. Extra patrols will be performed.

On Thursday, June 20, Security responded to Saltwater Way regarding a suspicious incident. The caller advised that the lights were on at an unoccupied home and there were two electric bicycles outside the residence. A premise check was conducted and found nothing unusual. A neighbor agreed to store the bicycles in case the owners came looking for them. On Friday, June 21, a resident called Security inquiring about the status of the bicycles. She advised that her son and a friend had been riding them the previous evening and “dumped” them at the location to get onto a friend’s golf cart. When they returned a short time later, they found the bicycles had been removed. She was advised of what happened, and her information was passed onto the resident who was storing the bicycles.

Security responded to Windswept Lane on Sunday, June 23, for a report of a suspicious incident. The resident advised that someone had banged on her door and run off. A check of the surrounding area was performed with negative results. The resident suspected a juvenile who lived nearby may have been the culprit. However, Security contacted the family and learned they were out of town.
