Security Update
As I started to draft this month’s Landings Journal article, I had a moment of genius: Look at the hot topics from last year’s June article. Interestingly enough, we were faced with the same issue a year ago, as we are today.
Access Management
As some may recall, if a guest or vendor is not correctly preauthorized in our access management system, staff will ask them to contact the sponsoring resident. Once the preauthorization is completed, they will need to re-enter the guest lane line. A common question asked is, “What if they have an RFID; do I still need to preauthorize them? The answer is, “Yes, please!”
Our system has a classification “Guest is Not on the List”, which is used for anyone arriving at our gates that has not been preauthorized. Please do your part and preauthorize anyone you expect to enter our community. If they are meeting you at the Community Park, Athletic Fields, any of the clubhouses, etc., you can annotate that information in the notes section.
Another common issue Officers are faced with is guests/vendors not knowing the address they are visiting or even the correct spelling of the sponsoring resident’s last name. I know…hard to imagine, but it occurs all too frequently. We appreciate it when a guest/vendor can provide the correct address, as there are several residents with the same last name.
Traffic at the North (Marshwood) Gate continues to be problematic with the amount of increased traffic and residents failing to preauthorize expected arrivals. Our request for residents to preauthorize anyone entering our community is nothing new. Again, if there are two or more cars in line and the guest/vendor is not properly preauthorized, we ask the person to contact their sponsoring member and get back in the line. Previously, several vendors, and even a few guests, opted to simply leave and claim they were denied access. This is not accurate. Their entry was delayed, and they chose not to take the time to call the sponsoring resident. Please help us avoid these incidents and preauthorize your guests and vendors. The Gate Access website (www.GateAccess.net) and ABDi’s Gate Access app are very easy to use, accurate, and fast. Remember, you also can preauthorize guests via Gate Access on the Landings Association app. Simply select the “Guest Gate Access” smart button at the top of the home screen. To login and preauthorize your expected guests and vendors, use the information below.
The Community Code is TLA.
Username is your PRIMARY email address TLA has on file for you.
Password is your P.I.N. (Personal Identification Number you use to authorize guests)
While you are using the GateAccess.net website, please update your emergency contact information! A recent look at our database revealed only about 54% of the residents are using this important feature. For those who consistently preauthorize your guests/vendors and use such features as the emergency contact feature, we thank you!
Hurricane Season
Don’t forget Hurricane Season is here. You and your family should have a plan and an alternate plan. Several resources are available on the subject, and you should start planning today, if you haven’t already begun! TLA’s primary focus if a hurricane or other natural or manmade disaster were to strike is towards protecting community assets and focusing on business continuity. Residents with special needs should work with our local partner, Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA), now to ensure their needs will be met. Helpful information can be found in the 2024 Landings Residential Directory on pages 64-68. Please take the time to read or re-read this information and be prepared.
Mark your calendars! The Landings Association’s Hurricane Town Hall is set for June 18, at 7 p.m. in Palmetto’s Ballroom.
