President’s Update - May 29, 2024

By Bill Bina
President, The Landings Association

Work proceeded nicely at Landings Harbor Marina, with Phase Two of the Dry Rack Project completed and the fuel tank installation progressing.

Our TLA Landings Harbor Picnic Pavilion Task Force engaged a Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) project team to assist in developing potential ideas for use of the Landings Harbor picnic pavilion space. Much work still needs to be done. Current designs are being reviewed for financial feasibility, and final designs will be presented to the community for comment at a later date.

Discussions continue with The Landings Golf & Athletic Club (TLGAC) on the terms for improvement of the Franklin Creek Drive North area’s current parking issues. Environmental factors are one of our major concerns. Among the terms being considered are governmental permitting requirements, insurance and hold harmless issues, design sketches and landscaping buffers (which are not agreed upon yet), construction period, lease length and termination, and usage fees. The Landings Association’s Board is taking a very deliberate approach when considering any changes affecting TLA members and our responsibility for promoting the common benefits to the community.

We continue to review the Guardian Pro traffic radar data. There are ongoing excessive speed violations, while overall compliance with the speed limits has improved. We will continue our courtesy notices through June and will assess fines beginning in July for offenders.

I appreciate all those who made us aware of their concerns about the Main Gate traffic changes. Those thoughtful messages allowed us to reconsider and decide to return to familiar traffic patterns. Current conditions will need to be modified as work by the Atlanta Gas Light company in the Main Gate area progresses.

Thank you,
