President’s Update - April 24, 2024

By Bill Bina
President, The Landings Association

I am grateful! The Main Gate repaving is complete and will return to its previous use. I regret that we all suffered the inconvenience it caused. The repaving did need to be done and should last us a decade or more. As you are aware, we tested a new traffic pattern when the paving was completed. 24 hours of experience told us that it would not work, so it returns to the previous and familiar traffic flow.

Work is proceeding nicely at Landings Harbor, with Phase Two of the racks complete and fuel tank installation progressing. Our TLA Task Force engaged a Savannah College of Art and Design project team to assist in developing ideas for use of the picnic pavilion space. Final design ideas will be presented to the community for comment at a later date.

An area of Franklin Creek Drive North and terms for a proposed improvement of its current parking issues is being considered by the Club.

I like the idea of the “Skidaway Wave”, as it reinforces the concept that we are living in a community that acknowledges others and their well-being. Hard to drive someone off a path if you are acknowledging them with a wave. Please remind your friends and children to slow down, as they sometimes soar past walkers and bikers on their carts and bicycles.

You have seen the GuardianPro traffic radar in use around the community. Early indications are that excessive speeds are down and compliance with our traffic rules and regulations is improving. The courtesy notices will continue for first-time violations, and fines will begin on July 1.

I appreciate all those who made us aware of their concerns about the Main Gate traffic changes. Those thoughtful messages allowed us to reconsider and decide to return to familiar traffic patterns. Thank you!
