Yellow-Legged Hornet Nest Removed on Delegal Road
The Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) recently removed a yellow-legged hornets nest on Delegal Road. GDA now is monitoring the northend of the island now to see if there is another nest somewhere between Skidaway Farm and Skidaway Institute of Oceanography. Landings residents are asked to remain on the lookout for yellow-legged hornets and report any sightings to yellow.legged.hornet@agr.georgia.gov.
You can read more here about these hornets that could threaten honey production and Georgia's native pollinators. The yellow-legged hornets have been found mostly in pine trees near water sources. Please click here to watch a quick video of what the hornets look like, and read this press release from GDA sharing details about a nest in Savannah that recently was eradicated.
