General Manager's Update

General Manager/COO

Dear Landings Association Members,

It’s almost June and that time again…Hurricane Season! Not my favorite time of the year, as we’ve dealt with multiple evacuations since 2016. The good news is we’ve learned a lot of lessons over the past few years, both as Landings Association staff ensuring business continuity, and as residents. For our newer owners, I encourage you to attend our annual Hurricane Town Hall Meeting June 12 at 7 p.m. in Palmetto Club’s ballroom. For those unable to attend, we will publish a complete report. The key is to begin preparing now before there is a potential threat.

My office looks out at Landings Community Park, and I can see activity is heating up, along with the weather. With the increased traffic, it’s a good reminder to be courteous of your neighbors on the paths and the roads. As one of my former colleagues was fond of saying, “Right-of-way is something you give, not take.”

While you’re out and about over the summertime, you soon will have more options for stopping and enjoying nature while also taking a break. Thanks to a generous grant from Landlovers, a number of benches and swings soon will be installed along our paths. Look for more details as locations are finalized.

Speaking of the many wonderful clubs and organizations in The Landings like Landlovers, now is the time to start thinking about Nominations for Volunteer and Volunteer Group of the Year. The Volunteer of the Year and the Volunteer Group of the Year are intended to promote and reward volunteerism at The Landings.

The recipients are those individuals who have gone above and beyond expectations to offer their time, talent, and expertise to a cause which benefits others. To qualify for nomination, the individual or group must be members in good standing of The Landings Association. They must have an exemplary record of volunteer service which has resulted in enhancing the reputation of The Landings and its citizens, and provided continued service within the Landings community, resulting in the improvement of quality of life and/or the visual beauty of The Landings. Nominations can be made by visiting www.landings.org/volunteer-year-nomination.

Finally, now is the time we begin looking for candidates to stand for election for the Association’s Board of Directors. If you enthusiastically want to preserve what The Landings has built over the past 51 years, and improve on what we have, you are a great candidate. If you would like to be considered, please fill out this form (landings.org/board-candidate-application).

Drop me a line if I can help (karls@landings.org). Have a great summer!
